Friends of the Santa Fe River

"We abuse land because we see it as a commodity belonging to us.
When we see land as a community to which we belong,
we may begin to use it with love and respect."  - Aldo Leopold

Return the river to her natural state.
Remove non-native invasive species.

Mission

I would like to invite you to participate in a community project to restore part of the Santa Fe River to a more natural state. First, we will remove invasive Siberian elm and Russian olive trees to allow natives room to grow and not compete for water, sun and space. Next, we will trim the dead off the natives.

This project has been done in cooperation with The Santa Fe Watershed Association Adopt a River Program and the city of Santa Fe. So far, the reach between Paseo de Peralta and Delgado Street has almost been finished.

If this is something that you or someone you know would be interested in, we need both financial and physical support. For more information you may contact me at 505-995-1013 or email me at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Michael Smith
